Description: This meeting will focus on a question raised by the National Center for Family Philanthropy’s 2015 Trends Report—how do family foundations determine the focus of their legacy?

  • Do they prioritize giving in a particular geographic place of importance to the family?
  • Do they focus on an issue or issues the family cares deeply about?

Come to the meeting to discuss trends in family philanthropy and to share how you are seeing this play out in Minnesota and in your foundation. Amy Rosenblatt Lui, Executive Director of the Beverly Foundation, Fingerhut Family Foundation, and the Ronald Fingerhut Family Foundation, will share how these foundations developed their place-based focus. Colleen O'Keefe, Executive Director of the Sauer Children's Renew Foundation, will share how the foundation chose its issue-oriented focus.

Join us for the first meeting of the Family Foundation Professionals Network! The Family Foundation Professionals Network is for members who work at family foundations and are interested in discussing the unique issues and opportunities in family philanthropy. The Family Foundation Professionals Network meetings will generally take the form of informal learning from one another around a pre-determined discussion topic, with space on the agenda for updates and other timely discussion. This network replaces the Non-Family Foundation Professionals (NFFP) network. It is open to everyone who works in family philanthropy – including family and non-family staff of family foundations.

This is a brown bag lunch meeting. Drinks will be provided by MCF.
