If Minnesota philanthropy is going to live up to its aspirations, we must understand and reflect on our own practices, and work together to strengthen the role and impact of our field. In the 2022 Giving in Minnesota report, MCF provides data and insights about the practice of philanthropy in Minnesota.

During today’s briefing, we will dig into various data sets found in the Giving in Minnesota report, and how that data translates into action for Minnesota grantmakers. We’ll take time to explore how Minnesota grantmaking practices are aligning with the Principles for Philanthropy.

Grantmaking practices we’ll discuss include the following:

  • Providing funding for BIPOC communities
  • Engaging the community in funding decisions
  • Ensuring grant reporting requirements are not onerous or laborious
  • Providing multi-year funding
  • Providing general operating funding

The session will be hosted by Ben Cameron, President, Jerome Foundation. Session participants will be encouraged to ask questions, share insights, and provide relevant examples from their own grantmaking practices. Through field-wide self-reflection, tied to principles we all agree to, we can all learn, stretch and grow together, to benefit our communities.

This is an MCF members-only briefing. Log-in details will be provided in your confirmation email. For additional information, please reach out to Chris Oien, coien@mcf.org.
